The second release in the Anthology collection, The Unicorn’s Tale, is finished in aromatic Madeira casks and ex bourbon casks. Bottled non-chillfiltered and at an elegant 92 proof, this is one for the ages.
Aromatic waves of sponge cake, gentle smoke, earthy peat and fresh lemon rind drift from the glass. Bright citrus, sweet stone fruit and a subtle wisp of smoke on the front of the palate, with vanilla buttercream, freshly baked bread and smoky pineapple as it spreads across the tongue. The finish is mellow, with baked tropical fruit and maple drizzled bread fading as pleasant barbeque smoke lingers. A truly remarkable dram. The Whiskey Hotline

Part two of this experimental trilogy brings madeira cask-matured Ardbeg into the recipe. Creamy aromas of lime zest, mandarin, banana bread, and white pepper as the peat smoke builds, adding notes of cedar and rolling tobacco. On the palate, warming citrus fruits, lime juice, apricot, peach, marble cake, spicy peat smoke, toasted peppercorns, nutmeg, cinnamon, and aniseed are all present. The smoky finish with menthol and eucalyptus really goes the distance.
