WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
Expressive aromatics featuring deep red raspberry coulis and boysenberry, fresh loam, toasted herbs, bittersweet chocolate, and hints of chalk dust. The palate is supple and quite concentrated, with deep plum, muddled huckleberries, crushed stone, black tea, hints of candied orange peel and a pleasing savory minerality on the finish. This is an outstanding, deeply concentrated vintage of Valery, one that will age very well. Drink 2026-2040.
TASTING NOTES:
It’s a beautiful effort that has tons of sweet black cherry and currant fruit as well as classic Merlot chocolate, leafy herbs, tobacco, and lead pencil nuances. It’s medium to full-bodied, has a plush, round, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. The 2021 comes from a mix of the Boushey and Champoux vineyards and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Valery manages to feel balanced and bouncy on the palate, despite hovering close to 15% abv. The wine smells like a blackberry pie cooling on the counter, with traces of violets and mint. Sweet raspberry pastille and lemon zest flavors are backed by crisp acidity and silky tannins.
