TASTING NOTES:
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger is a potent, tightly wound wine. It shows a bit more savoriness and overall austerity than the Stelling Cabernet, which is not a bad thing, as both are terrific expressions of Oakville. Dried herbs, autumn leaves, tobacco, cedar, menthol, pine and sweet red cherry build as the 2019 opens with a bit of coaxing. Give the tannins a few years to soften. Best after 2026.

Aromas of cooked dark cherries, blueberries, sweet spices and bay leaves. Medium-bodied with round tannins. Polished with a velvety texture and a flavorful, fresh and supple finish. Drink or hold.

Beautiful red plum and raspberry aromas underscored by subtle spice and earth open onto layers of juicy red fruit flavors. Classic Oakville tannins support the full, round palate, while soft toasted oak and spice lift the long, seductive finish.
The home vineyard of Nickel & Nickel, Sullenger Vineyard is situated behind the winery in the heart of Oakville and is named for John C. Sullenger, who settled the farmstead in the 1880s. The vineyard's 30 acres of clay loam soil are planted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon, with 2 rootstocks and a few different clones which each add a unique element to the resulting wine.
